Christmas, celebrated primarily by Christians and Catholics, and Hanukkah, which is celebrated by Jews fall only a couple of weeks apart from each other in December. While “Joy” is a word commonly used to describe the Christmas spirit, “Oy” is short for “Oy Vey”, which is a Yiddish phrase sometimes still used in the Jewish community.
