Rubbing alcohol
One of the staples of your first-aid kit, rubbing alcohol might last for a long time if you’re not an accident-prone household. Much like hydrogen peroxide, there is a shelf life that you should pay attention to. Past this date, they’ll lose their potency, and just be taking up room in your cupboard without being in any way helpful. The last thing you want is to introduce an expired substance into open cuts.
Rubbing alcohol should be disposed of 3 years after purchase. Hydrogen peroxide is slightly different. If you don’t open it, then it will last 3 years, but once it’s opened the shelf life is only 6 months.
