August 19, 2021 by Veronica Phillips

Do you ever feel like you’re juggling too many balls at once? As if the days and weeks are just flying by, with no time for a break.

It can be exhausting to work full-time while still managing kids and household duties, but it doesn’t have to be this way!

Here are some tips on how we can all beat exhaustion:

Take care of your health. Eat a balanced diet, get enough sleep and exercise.

Schedule your time! Prioritizing tasks will help you focus on the most important ones at any given moment. Doing little things like running errands when it’s less busy will give you time to recharge.

Turn off work notifications! This includes your email, social media, and anything else that might make you feel more connected but also can be a huge distraction.

Give yourself permission not to be perfect by accepting that you’re going to make mistakes now and then. It’s better to fail than beat yourself up over it forever!

Think about what you want, not what others expect of you. If your family is happy, isn’t that the best gift you can give yourself?

Remember to thank those who help you out too! Take time to appreciate and show gratitude towards others.

Take some time alone with your spouse/partner at least once a week.    It doesn’t have to be fancy, but getting time together will recharge both of you!

Accept that you’re going to make mistakes now and then. It’s better to fail than beat yourself up over it forever.

Find ways to laugh more often; it helps us relax and decompress.

Create your own affirmations and give them to yourself.

Meditate! It’s good for the soul.  Close your eyes and breathe deeply, then imagine what you want to achieve instead of dwelling on what you don’t have or mistakes you’ve made.

Be kind to yourself.  Be your own best friend.

Remember that it’s okay to ask for help when you need it. Depression, anxiety and stress can be symptoms of exhaustion, so try not to suffer alone; find someone who will listen with compassion and empathy.

Take time off from work if you must.

Our bodies and minds are not built to be continuously stressed out; we need to give ourselves a break from the pressures of life once and a while. We hope that these tips for working parents to beat exhaustion will help you reduce stress and live a more relaxing life!
