English Tea in New York
Aah, don’t you just love the Brits? They’re polite and reserved, they dunk biscuits in tea and drink in the pub at any hour of the day. They have a great sense of humor (even if I’m not always sure I get the joke), they love to queue (that’s “stand in line” in British), they always talk about the weather, say sorry for every little thing and have bad teeth. OK, I know that’s not really true, but these British stereotypes always make me smile and make me start to fantasize about my next visit to London.
Seeing this little tea bag politely sipping his tea made me miss the UK even more. But someone should really let him know that the idea that you should raise your pinky finger when drinking tea to show that you are cultured is not true – it’s actually considered rude and elitist. Like all the rest of the items on the British stereotype list, this too is rubbish (that’s “garbage” in British).
