Weeping Widow
Whoever named this plant the “weeping widow” must enjoy dark humor. I suppose the plant isn’t too far off in behaving like a weeping widow. If you have no idea what the “weeping widow” is, then you ought to know now that it is a mushroom or a tree. In this instance a mushroom. They have black watery droplets on their cap rim earning them their peculiar name.
Like a widow dressed in black clothing, they aren’t exactly the happiest-looking mushrooms around. It makes sense why they would be classified as the saddest plant. Information about this particular mushroom is interesting. Some say it is so bitter it makes them inedible; others claim they should be eaten immediately after cooking. Anyways, I doubt I’ll be eating a weeping widow anytime soon.
