On the one hand, it’s pretty clear that this is either a prank or a cool art installation out on some abandoned beach somewhere. I can’t imagine there was ever a time that there was any kind of building on the beach that could have required a door.

On the other hand, part of me suspects that if you open that door, Poseidon comes out and takes you prisoner in his palace at the bottom of the sea or feeds you to the Kraken or does whatever Poseidon would do if he captured a mortal.
