Forget Diamonds; Equal Pay Is A Girl’s Best Friend
In many countries, the fight for equality seems like little more than a quiet roar if you aren’t paying attention, but we’re still ironing out key issues like equal pay. The Equal Pay Act of 1963 was supposed to set American women on course for receiving the same compensation for performing the same work as men. However, the act had more holes than Swiss cheese and failed to close the gap.

The Paycheck Fairness Act was set to mend the loopholes, but it has been continuously knocked down since 1997. The wage gap hasn’t closed much over the years, with women still earning 18% less than men, or 2% when considering factors like location, experience, and industry. 2% might seem like peanuts, but it makes a significant difference over time, so we continue the fight.
