Here’s a case of a slow-burn troll that originated back in the 1870s (at the earliest). This person found a history book printed in 1873 with handwritten instructions to flip to page 150. The reader, who was surprised by the sudden instructions, decided to do what was commanded of them.
Upon flipping to page 150, the reader found another handwritten message, telling them they were a “fool” for looking. To be fair, anyone would fall for this trickery, but nobody would expect a person from around the 19th century to troll a learned person of today. Nice burn, mystery troll from over a century ago.
