How exotic
“Exotic” is relative. For us in America, exotic can refer to anything we’re not accustomed to, like coconut beverages or living a debt-free life. In other places in the world, what we consider plain, others might consider exotic. The picture below will give you a pretty clear idea of how differences in cultures perceive the idea of exoticism.
A bunch of peas and carrots, in our country, would never be classified as an exotic salad, but things are different in South Africa. That’s not to say that they’re wrong or we’re right, but it is pretty funny that something we think of as a side dish for school lunches is neatly packed in plastic and sold in supermarkets.
