Looking Back on Our Favorite Discontinued Items

Naked No More

August 23rd, 2018, was the day makeup lovers everywhere wished they were wearing waterproof mascara because Urban Decay opened the floodgates for tears to flow when they announced the discontinuation of the original Naked Palette. Over 30 million units were sold, netting the brand $1 billion over its eight-year life span.

The Naked Palette sequels live on, but the original turned many cosmetic curious into full-blown makeup enthusiasts and taught them how to blend with its stunning neutrals suited to any occasion. It was so popular it became part of the combat against counterfeiting. Urban Decay knew we would sorely miss the palette, so they threw together a funeral in Newport Beach, CA, where Nicole Richie gave it the eulogy it deserved.
