Looking Back on Our Favorite Discontinued Items

We’re Longing For the Layers

There’s nothing like the gag-reflex-inducing Jell-O recipes of the 1960s that saw housewives chucking anything and everything into gelatin molds as a flex on all the other moms (refrigerators were still expensive back then). We’re willing to forgive and attempt to forget, but only because in 1969, we were treated to the unforgettable Jell-O 1-2-3 that lasted well into the 90s.

The unique powder was a self-separating mix that made triple-tiered gelatin desserts a piece of cake. Fans recall watching the liquid shift around in the cups as it set like an edible lava lamp. There is no official word on why it disappeared, but Twitter is full of calls for a comeback.
