Loopholes in Seinfeld We Can’t Ignore Any Longer

Kramer calls Jerry “Even Steven” at one point, telling him that it seems as if things always even out in his favor. After considering this theory, Jerry agrees, saying he lost a gig but then immediately got a new one. Elaine even puts the theory to the test at one point, but while it seems to even out for the show, in reality, it doesn’t.

However, this Even-Steven theory only applies to this one episode. In many other episodes, not to say all of them, bad things (or at least slightly annoying things) happen to Jerry – like that time his brand new and expensive suede jacket was ruined, or, I don’t know, like that time he went to jail. How did that even out for him?
