Lucy’s ever-lasting impact
Although CBS finished filming I Love Lucy over 60 years ago, the series has left an impact on the entertainment industry. You’ll hardly find a single person who hasn’t heard of Lucille Ball or I Love Lucy—in fact, the only person we know of that hasn’t watched a single episode was Lucy’s second husband, Gary.
The show introduced many firsts in show business. She triggered the acknowledgment of a pregnant person on TV for the first time, her and Desi’s on-screen relationship was the first interracial marriage on primetime TV, and I Love Lucy was the first to have a Hispanic immigrant in a starring role.
