A history of bad relationships
In 1925, long before Lucy had even heard of Desi Arnaz, she was a young, incredibly bright 14-year-old child who was just starting to make a name for herself in the tough entertainment business. Despite being a minor, she was already in a relationship with a 21-year-old guy named Johnny DeVita, who was—to put it simply—bad news.
Like any caring mother, her mom tried to steer Lucy away from the man who had a bad reputation in town. So, she scraped together whatever money she could find and sent her daughter away to acting school in New York. This would be the best decision in her daughter’s life.
