Valletta
Malta is an archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea between Sicily and the North African coast. Valletta is a walled city in the island nation that was developed in the 1500s on a peninsula by Roman Catholic order by the Knights of St John. The capital of Malta is now known for its museums, churches such as St. John’s Cathedral.
Locals travel to Valletta during the Christmas season to celebrate the holiday with the city’s festivities such as the annual Christmas pantomime at the Monel Theater, Christmas carolers, and glistening holiday lights. Nativity scenes are displayed in windows. The most popular: the life-sized Bethlehem f’Ghajnsielem, where 150 actors reenact the birth of baby Jesus.
