There are a lot of heartwarming stories online about teachers, firefights, police officers, and other public workers that go above and beyond with their job. Take for example this teacher who tragically was diagnosed with cancer and had to take time off until he was stabilized, or at least told he was able to work again. 

The school where he works told him that he only had a few sick days left and basically needed to come back to work or lose his job. So his coworkers got together to sacrifice their sick days for him. While this was a very nice thing to do, it begs the question of why the system forces people to do that in the very first place.
