Apples for Apple Pie
Ah, America’s favorite dessert—apple pie. The sad part about making apple pie is that you need to dirty several cooking utensils. But if you have a Ziploc bag on hand, you can reduce the number of dirty dishes you have to clean by quite a lot.
To soften your apples prior to baking, slice and dice your apples and place them inside a Ziploc bag. Add as much sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, and lemon juice as you want and give the bag a good shake to cover the apples. Now, close the bag 90% of the way before microwaving for two minutes. That way, steam doesn’t build up inside the bag and causes it to explode.
