Cooked Rice
Fried rice is great and all, but it starts with one very crucial component—rice. If you don’t have a batch of cooked rice, you can prepare some in your microwave. It will take about 25 minutes to finish, but it’s worth it if you don’t have a rice cooker.
In a microwave-safe bowl, add two cups of rice and 3-1/2 cups of water. Feel free to add any spices or fats you want at this point. Now, place the bowl in the microwave and heat on high for ten minutes and again for 15 minutes on medium. Don’t mix or stir the bowl at all during the cooking process. After the final 15 minutes of microwaving, let it stand for 15 minutes to cool down.
