#36: Stealing Their Thunder?
Seinfeld and Friends are two of the most successful sitcoms in the history of TV. Both are nineties sitcoms about a group of friends living in NYC. Although the shows are quite different, they were considered rivals in a sense. The shows ran on the same network, and Friends was sometimes accused of taking the formula from Seinfeld and just recreating the show (with better-looking, more wholesome characters).

While that’s not exactly true, there are some similarities. Commenting on Friends, which aired five years after Seinfeld, Jerry himself once said, “we thought, ‘they wanna do our show with better-looking people.'” But it takes more than New York City, a group of close friends, and a regular coffee shop to make a good show. Regardless of whether you’re a Seinfeld or Friends fan, both shows had memorable moments and a fantastic cast.
