#17: New-Age Parenting
Everyone calls gentle parenting a new thing, but I’m 35 years old, and my parents did it with me. It really does work. Of course, we did have one rule that, if broken, earned a spanking: if I put my life or someone else’s life in danger. Now, this was the 80s and 90s, so of course, I was still allowed to tromp around outside.

All things considered, it was a good rule, and I followed it well because no one yelled at me. Now, with kids of my own, I have eliminated that rule, but they also can’t go galavanting wherever they want. That’s a significant change. Parent them with words and positive actions. It works.
