Weddings and Diamonds
Let’s face it, at the end of the day a wedding is just a huge waste of money. Over half of Gen X, the age group born between the mid-1960s to the early 1980s were getting married when they were the same age millennials are now (25-34). But today, more than half of millennials are yet to tie the knot and don’t plan to anytime soon.
Just like weddings, millennials agree that diamonds are a huge waste of money too. Even millennials who do choose to tie the knot are going for less expensive and more bespoke jewels. Recently, sapphires and opals have become popular stones for engagement rings. Marriage rates and diamond sales have both declined. Don’t get us wrong, though. We’re not saying don’t get married, just know that it’s okay not to as well.
