One of a Kind Aircraft
What is this crazy looking aircraft you ask? You probably won’t be able to guess unless you remember this historical moment or you have worked in the aviation industry. In this photo, we see a North American XB-70 Valkyrie prototype. This plane consisted of six engines and was intended to be used as a strategic bomber — which included nuclear weapons.
That is one scary aircraft I would not like to meet in the sky. The XB-70 Valkyrie was capable of travelling at Mach 3+ speeds for far distance, which truly made it a marvel in the mid-1950s. The program was abandoned in 1961 after one aircraft crashed into another mid-air. A prototype can still be viewed today at the National Museum of the United States Air Force.
