Dicksonia Plantation in Alabama
Robert Dickson purchased the Dicksonia Plantation in 1901. Like many others across the world, this house was destroyed by a fire and left in ruins after 30 years. People attempted to give the home a second life in the 1960s, but it didn’t work out very well.
The homeowner did her best to fire-proof the home, but another house fire destroyed it. The Dicksonia Plantation, which had attracted worldwide attention the first time it burned down in the early 1990s, was damaged again in 2010. This time, it became clear that the Plantation wasn’t intended to last long, so its owner kept it in its current condition. It’s presently used as a movie prop, such as Big Fish.
