Edward James Olmos accused Ben of whitewashing in his Oscar-winning movie
Ben Affleck’s directorial debut, the 2012 historical drama Argo, was a major box office and critical success. The film not only earned multiple millions of dollars at the box office, but it also received Best Picture honors at the 2013 Academy Awards. Ben got almost universal acclaim from everyone – with one exception.

Veteran actor and director Edward James Olmos believes Ben is guilty of whitewashing. He played real-life CIA officer Tony Mendez in the film, and Olmos criticized Ben for not choosing a Latino actor like Michael Pena to play him. It was then stated that Affleck’s statement about the film not being made if he hadn’t starred in it being B.S.
