They emit energy
Though the Sun is an excellent source of energy, black holes are incomparable — they convert 10% of their mass into pure energy. To put this in perspective, a nuclear fusion reaction only converts 0.7% of its mass to energy. Consequently, studies show that there is great potential for harnessing power from black holes, which could provide limitless energy needs for future generations.
The gravitational force is stronger near a black hole’s event horizon, causing nearby matter to orbit much faster. This accelerated matter heats up and emits intense radiation. Some researchers think this “blackbody radiation” could be used to power plants and starships.
