Don’t panic, but there is a black hole near Earth
Although black holes cannot be observed, we know they are everywhere–including in our galaxy. In fact, there are several black holes in the Milky Way galaxy, and some of them might be relatively close to Earth. However, because they can’t be seen, scientists aren’t exactly sure where they all are located.
The most notable black hole close to Earth is found 26,000 light-years from our planet. A supermassive black hole named Sagittarius A was discovered in 1974 and had a mass of about 22 million kilometers. However, according to scientists’ claims, this figure is only increasing as the black moves and acquires more matter.
