She Has a Point
According to some historical records, Phidippides ran the length of a marathon in 490 BC to bring the words “we won” to the troops in Athens after a battle between Greeks and Persians. According to other accounts, he fell and died immediately following his outburst. Yet, no one knows exactly what caused his death.

The obvious conclusion is that running 26.2 miles did it, but ancient Greeks were in excellent condition, so it might have been something else, like dehydration. Regardless, the fundamental narrative is correct, and his trip across Greece provided the basis for today’s marathon. Don’t be concerned. I won’t be flexing on him. I’m not able to run a mile without stopping.
