The Cynic
Diogenes the Cynic was a Greek philosopher who lived in ancient Paphlagonia (now known as Turkey) and was born in 412 BC. He was quite controversial, being forced to leave his birthplace owing to forgery of currency, although there is debate over whose fault it was.

He’s regarded as one of the Cynic movement’s founders, along with Antisthenes and Crates of Thebes. Despite his many philosophical ideas, none of his writings have survived. He has written ten books and seven tragedies that are now lost to antiquity. According to several accounts, he was also the first to use the term “cosmopolitan.”
