The restaurant business in the United States is totally messed up if you think about it. Restaurant owners pay their workers little, expecting consumers to make up the difference by spending more money on top of the cost of their food. Many people I know despise the system, and waiters also dislike it since if you have a lot of terrible tippers, it can be expensive.

Tipping, in my opinion, should be eliminated altogether. Here is one example of a company that showed it could work! When this owner treated his workers as though they were genuinely valuable to him, he discovered that it did not harm the business and that, in fact, revenue increased. Every last one of us should take something away from this.
