Talking Just to Talk
There’s usually an introduction to a discussion when most people speak. It’s generally informing, complaining, or storytelling. Some individuals cut straight to the point, while others like to tell stories, but generally speaking, you have an issue in your narrative. If you start a conversation, there is almost always a purpose behind it. Some individuals will just talk for the sake of talking.
“Your father-in-law is…” It’s an old wives’ tale, and you’re never sure why. She’ll go on a tangent about something unrelated, only to conclude it with nothing more than the intention of informing you. People want someone to talk to; they don’t have anything better to say.
