Ridiculous Expectations
Expectations exist for everyone, to some degree. You expect your day to go a certain way or for someone to react in a specific manner. You have preconceptions about your children, your partner, and everything else in life. As long as you can learn to release your expectations for others in your life to be themselves, it’s natural.
While it’s natural to want your children and their spouses to thrive, that doesn’t always imply you know what is best for them or make them happy. A mother-in-law threatened to call the cops because her son didn’t become a lawyer, even though he worked in technology rather than law. All because he held a technical job instead of pursuing law.
