Not all ad men are Don Draper
Two sides of the same card, sold by a deaf-mute individual, are shown in these photographs. It’s actually quite impressive because they weren’t panhandling – they were selling cards describing American Sign Language hand signs.

What’s more, this card was given to me by an ad executive who inherited his collection from the 1970s and 1980s. When you think of a 1980s ad executive, you don’t usually consider someone who helps the less fortunate, so it’s a delightful contradiction.
