The never-ending search
A tiny slip of paper, which was discovered in a high school geometry textbook dating back to 1920, is the subject of this essay. It’s quite beautiful, in my opinion: “Have you discovered ‘that thing’?” With the handwritten response, “no.” We think of folks as being stuffy and solemn in olden times, so it’s nice to learn they were amusing themselves during tedious lessons just like we used to.
In reality, they were required to put in a lot of hard effort to do it since notes allegedly passed in class were handwritten? Perhaps this isn’t at all the case; maybe it’s someone’s strangely beautiful internal existential conundrum.
