A rare ‘triple-dip’ has been predicted
La-Niña weather conditions, while not entirely unusual, are not overly common either. A “triple-dip,” which includes droughts, strong winds, and heavy rainfall brought about by the cooling of Earth’s surface temperature, is even rarer. In fact, according to documented records, there have only been three occurrences of a “triple-dip” in history. However, one is happening right now as we speak.
According to the World Meteorological Organization, the La-Niña phase that began in 2020 is predicted to last until at least next February. These predictions are already coming true and are expected to continue over the next few months. The Horn of Africa has been predicted to experience droughts, while the East Coast of Australia was told to expect especially wild summers.
