Sharing Bunks
“Sharing is caring,” we’ve all heard. If you’re living on a submarine, though, that sentiment might be interpreted differently. Submarines don’t have individual bunks for each passenger. Typically, two to three people share the same bunk in this situation.
What is it? In a nutshell, what does this entail? When one passenger’s shift ends, they wake up another person who has fallen asleep in the bunk. This happens so frequently that submariners have developed a term for it: hot racking.
