Decades Underwater
One of the key benefits of employing a nuclear-powered submarine is that it will operate for decades without requiring to be refueled. Only once in 25 years do Astute class nuclear submarines commissioned by the Royal Navy require replenishment.
A submarine, of course, will have to resurface at some point to replenish its provisions and drink water. This is still a fascinating fact, even if it is unavoidable.
