Why are companies obsessed with gifting their employees instead of paying them a decent living wage so they can afford those exact things? Even though it might seem like the company is doing people a favor, this is just a ”wholesome” way of masking the fact they’re underpaying their employees.
I understand not every company can pay all their employees a high salary, but if people are not even able to afford basic human necessities with their wages, something is definitely not right. It’s important we understand that receiving ”gifts” and ”prizes” from our colleagues and companies is a short-term solution that doesn’t benefit us in the long run.
