Caring for Our Vets
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in 2019, there were more than 17 million veterans in the United States. Even though we all have an immense debt to them, and we should be very thankful for their service, veteran care is far from great. Veteran care is so precarious that almost 40,000 veterans are without shelter.
Thanks to this 8-year-old, some of our veterans facing homelessness were able to get some basic assistance. As kind and filled with good intentions as this kid was, I think we can all agree an 8-year-old shouldn’t be the source of our veteran’s assistance. If we can’t take care of the ones who fought for us, what kind of message are we teaching young children?
