Different Manners
We’re coming to learn that Eastern and Western cultures find different things acceptable and different behaviors to be rude. For example, while you absolutely must tip in a restaurant in America, it’s considered rude to do so in South Korea. The same goes for pushing and shoving in crowded areas.
Even in places like Times Square, people will excuse themselves and apologize if they bump into you. But in South Korea, forget it. Pushing and shoving isn’t considered disrespectful. It’s actually perfectly acceptable. Don’t expect to be treated any differently if you’re an obvious tourist. But at least you can do the same.
