Wait for Your Elders
You may have heard that it is polite to wait until everyone is seated to begin eating. However, in South Korea, the rule is only relative to the eldest member at the dinner table because he or she will always be the first one to eat. It’s just part of their culture.
Not only is the oldest person the first to eat, he or she will also be the first to be seated at the table. These rules are important to remember if you ever get the chance to eat at a family’s home in South Korea. Experiencing new cultures can be very insightful and a great learning experience.
