Don’t Help Yourself
Can you believe there are even more rules of etiquette to remember when eating in South Korea? We’ve already learned that it’s rude to tip in a restaurant, offensive to not clear your plate, and disrespectful to sit or eat first unless you’re the eldest. What other rules could there be?
There are rules to follow when it comes to serving beverages at the dinner table. First, everybody at the table has to ensure that the eldest person’s glass is never, ever empty. Second, you are not supposed to help yourself to a drink. You can pour others a glass, but other people have to pour for you too.
