More Money? How Rude!
This is a form of service etiquette that Americans will love. In our home country, we’re used to having to tip everyone for everything. Restaurants and cabs have tipping options and it is proper etiquette to tip bellhops and valet services and hotels. But in South Korea, there is absolutely no tipping allowed at restaurants.
In America, restaurant workers especially cannot get by on their salaries alone, which is why tips are so important. Unlike those who work in the restaurant industry in America, hostesses and waiters in South Korea are paid fairly enough to afford a decent living on their salaries. Leaving a tip can actually be insulting.
