It’s Not Polite to Stare
You may have heard the saying before, “Didn’t your mama ever tell you not to stare?”. The truth is, staring is considered rude in most places. Some people may dress outrageously on purpose for extra attention. But you can usually tell those apart from the rest. While staring can feel rather exposing, in South Korea, it is considered a serious offense.
South Koreans are very conservative and personal people. Giving them an uncomfortable stare can feel very intrusive to them. Just like staring, it’s also not polite to take pictures of people without asking anywhere you go. But in South Korea, you can get fined or even arrested for doing so.
