The IRS and iTunes
When your phone rings and someone tells you there’s a warrant out for your arrest for tax evasion, your heart starts racing, your palms get sweaty, and your judgment goes from crystal clear to a cesspool of confusion. The person on the other end recited all your personal information, so you’re willing to do anything they ask, even if it’s as silly as paying them in iTunes gift cards.
The real IRS doesn’t play like that. They don’t take gift cards of any kind as payment. While they occasionally make live phone calls (never pre-recorded), they usually send letters first or show up at your door unannounced. They also wont threaten you with immediate arrest or ask you for payment details over the phone. Play it safe and hang up on anyone asking for gift cards.
