Old-fashioned chiller
Do you know what the Svalbard Global Seed Vault is? It’s a vault located somewhere between Norway and the North Pole where seeds 4.5 million different kinds of farmable seeds are kept. In the event of a worldwide nuclear, any surviving human can go to the vault, plant the seeds, and begin human civilization anew.
No, this picture is not of the Svalbard Global Seed Vault. Instead, it’s an underground chiller that people used back in the day to keep food cold. These rooms were dug into dirt, which provided insulation from the outdoor heat. So, in a sense, this underground freezer is like the Svalbard Global Seed Vault in no way at all.
