When your sleep cycle gets disrupted, you can deal with a variety of issues ranging from indigestion to syncope. You need sleep to function properly in daily life and at work.
One person shares their experience working a night shift. Running on 4-5 hours of sleep in three days doesn’t make for the best cognitive function as this person experienced. However, because they went to the hospital during their shift, they got written up because they hadn’t worked at least half their shift – for obvious reasons!
