#12: The High Road
You’d think our traffic would be light since we have so many lanes, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Our cities are overly congested with cars since many of us commute from the suburbs. Our largest highway is in Katy, Texas, with 26 lanes at certain parts! It’s the widest highway in the world!
Thankfully, we don’t hold the record for the longest traffic jam. That belongs to France, where a traffic jam in 1980 stretched 176 kilometers (that’s 109 miles for us Americans). No one knows how long it lasted, but with poor weather conditions and slowly rolling vehicles, it must have been hours long!
