A Softy for Fatherhood
Anyone who’s seen Die Hard will swear that Bruce Willis’ John McClane is one tough son of a gun. However, his character has a soft side that’s more akin to the real-life Bruce Willis. Like in the novel, John makes his way to Los Angeles and takes a big stuffed bear with him as a present for his daughter.
That’s not too out of the ordinary of a toy to give one’s daughter, is it? Well, it turns out that the movie’s director, John McTiernan, uses teddy bears to symbolize a father’s deep love for their family. He also used the teddy bear metaphor in the movie The Hunt for Red October.
