Real Blood, Real Pain, Real Fright
Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained was filled with controversy. People thought it was incredibly odd for a Caucasian director to have his actors use a particular derogatory word 65 times. In fact, Leonardo was so uncomfortable by it that Samuel L. Jackson had to “reassure” him.
But the scene we want you to focus on is when Monsieur Candy learns about Django and Dr. King Schultz’s plan to free Broomhilda. Leonardo’s hand actually got torn up when he smacked the table, and the blood gushing out of the cut was 100% real. Then he proceeded to wipe it all over Kerry Washington’s face, prompting an expression and gasp of real disgust.
