True Colors
Look, they even wrote a little poem! This certainly spells out excitement. Regarding the pink and blue thing, it’s quite amazing how on one hand parents (and grandmothers especially) still buy specifically pink or blue baby clothes to “suit” the baby’s gender, while in Canada in 2016 the first gender-neutral baby was born to gender-neutral parent Kori Doty, who identifies as non-binary.
We’re assuming Kori Doty is not a big fan of color as a gender signifier. And rightfully so – after all, it is pretty random. Did you know that only in the 1940s, baby clothes manufacturers decided that pink was for girls, and blue was for boys? There was a time when it even was the opposite! So yeah, it could be pink and it could be blue. Whatever that means.
